The Thug- 50% Complete! Leatherhard!

Hey all! So my Thug was to be presented in my critique today in my Ceramics Class. However, it is apparently moist or something in my studio as he has be drying for a week now and is still leather hard. This frustrates me beyond anything as I never have anything in late. However I refuse to speed up the process because he is relatively large (20 inches high) and with my electric kiln, he would last 20 min before he exploded into a billion pieces (water in clay boiling is a death sentence to art work).

Instead I will present him via my lap top, through this blog post. My Thug, I think, will be gender confused. His shirt is going to have some pattern of femininity on it and I think it will look similar to a Mrs Vickies chip bag as it has the simplified design of lace and bow on it. I also wonder if my want to create all these figurative characters is some subconscious want to discover my own world to exist in. Disney had Disney Land, the Tunes have TuneVille, the Muppetts have Sesame Street, Dr Seus and his Whos' have WhoVille... So where do I exist in all of this?

Anyways, please leave your feedback on my thug!! He's only done being sculpted, he's still in clay form. Love hearing from you all!

Love the Thug! Especially his eyes - so creepy! His face definitely reminds me of something Jim Henson-ish!

Hahaha thanks guys. I'm thinking of making him gender confused... give him a girls shirt... change it up. What you think?
